Sprout’s Bookclub turns 100

This weekend, the Waterstones weekly comic strip celebrates the one hundredth appearance of Sprout and her bookclub, created by illustrator Nye Wright. In her short life, Sprout has shielded her eyes as Stephanie Meyer and Bram Stoker shared an intimate moment; played cards with Tyron Lannister and Gollum while her father had tea with J.R.R. Tolkien and George R.R. Martin; questioned Stan Lee about comic book’s depiction of women; and even brought Michael Gove face to face with John Steinbeck and Harper Lee. We’re particularly fond of the quality time she shared with Ernest Hemingway, see below.

What’s next for Sprout? We’d love to see her get hard-boiled with the Demon Dog himself James Ellroy, take tea with Jeeves and Wooster or perhaps take a turn for the spiritual with Paulo Coelho. Happy birthday Sprout!
